MoonTalker Monthly - May 2026

What happened in May? I'm sure you're wondering...

May started off jam-packed. Our resident bug collecting, insect taxidermist, frame thrifting, artist extraordinaire, A (Artie), organized, hosted, and vended at a wonderfully successful art market in Downtown Marshall, NC. It was the second annual installment of the Marshall Magic Market and I (your conduit of MoonWalker news) have deemed it a raging success.

One week after this, A then prepared their booth and slung their buggy wares at the Tennessee Plant Show in Kingsport, TN. I was lucky enough to tag along and folks, let me tell you, it was a marvelous time. We co-tabled (that’s the technical term I’m guessing) with our stained glass magicians over at Curiosity Garden.

How about a bit of chicken news? Two chicken events occurred this month in our flock. Our chicken Garlic incurred a leg injury. She was found dangling from the roost bar, stuck and frantically flapping her wings. She could not walk for days. We rushed her to the vet (which ain’t cheap y’all) to perform X-rays. Luckily no broken bones or damage to her internal organs. Her recovery mainly consisted of eating blueberries on our couch. Makes me wonder, did she intentionally extend her recovery so she could have more blueberry time? No no no. She would never.

As for the second bit of chicken news? Anchita, one of our new chickens, is officially a cock-a-doodling rooster. That makes two. We have plenty of land for these birds, and plenty of hens to have separate flocks, but boy do I hope those boys don’t start fighting.

Finally folks, a print club. Listen. We’re still working out the kinks, and there is a learning curve let me tell you. But each month we intend to offer a set of print goods on a subscription basis. A postcard, an art print with a related write-up, a sticker, a crossword puzzle, and maybe even a beautiful copy of this newsletter. Stay tuned.

Well that does it for me. Enjoy the photos.
